At The Convergence Foundation, we are dedicated to building and shaping pioneering institutions that align with our North Star of driving rapid and sustained economic growth and inclusive development for all. We support organisations that focus on our three critical domains: economic growth, enhancing human capital development, and accelerating development.
Our approach emphasises systems change, with the government serving as the key lever for reform and large-scale impact. We are committed to supporting visionary leaders who are not only systems thinkers but also dedicated to building institutions. By funding transformative ideas and fostering institutional resilience, we aim to catalyse sustainable change at scale.
We support organisations with an inspiring North Star that drives a sharp operational mission. These institutions must operate within our domain areas and a sharp focus on the constraints holding growth back is essential.
We value institutions that influence demand and build the salience of key agendas. Additionally, they must be adept at leveraging an extended partner network to achieve scale and amplify their impact.
These institutions should focus on augmenting government capacity, collaborating to design reform agendas, and driving high-impact initiatives that address critical issues.
We look for organisations with a clear and achievable pathway to scalability and a strong technical expertise in their focus areas. These institutions should have the potential to expand their impact and successfully replicate their models across different regions or sectors, ensuring population-level impact.
We are committed to building institutions that deliver lasting impact by maintaining continuity and focus on the critical problem areas they address. The organisations we support must prioritise sustainability from the outset, focusing on developing a high-quality institution with strong leadership and board, a core committed team, and a network of influential champions to aid in fundraising, mentoring, network building, and intellectual capabilities.
Our funding model is centred on three primary archetypes, each targeting a unique phase of organisational development and support.
For opportunities in emerging sectors, we take a hands-on approach by building new organisations from the ground up. TCF identifies critical areas and key leverage points where systemic impact can be initiated, and then actively seeks co-founders to establish these organisations. Examples of our initiatives in this category include the Central Square Foundation and India Leaders for the Social Sector.
For early-stage organisations that align with TCF's North Star and domains, the foundation provides flexible funding along with various strategic inputs. This approach enables promising young organisations to scale effectively and maximise their impact. TCF has supported several organisations under this archetype, including the Sports and Society Accelerator, Infravision Foundation, and CRISP.
TCF also collaborates with well-established organisations by funding specific initiatives that align with our mission. This support often includes targeted value additions like hiring key personnel or enhancing particular aspects of an organisation's work. Examples in this category include Rocket Learning and Pahle India.
Our offerings are tailored to meet the unique needs of our portfolio organisations at different stages—whether they are in the seed, growth, or established phase.
